Sol LeWitt’s Lines in Four Directions in Flowers at the Philadelphia Museum of Art
This monumental work is made up of more than 7,000 flowering plantings arranged in strategically configured rows. Divided into colored quadrants of white, yellow, red, and blue, the plant species were selected to flower sequentially, creating a variation in height and texture within Sol LeWitt’s design. The landscape design was conceived by OLIN, based on LeWitt’s 1981 proposal to the Fairmount Parks Association, and carried out by Groundswell.
